March in Vermont is a season of quiet beauty and deep tradition. The snow begins to soften, the maple trees prepare for sugaring, and the woods settle into that peaceful space between winter and spring. At Maple Grove Campground, March is more than the start of a new season — it’s a celebration of heritage, family, and a lifelong love of camping.

For owner Michael McGuiness, the outdoors has always felt like home. Since before he can remember, Mike was exploring the rich landscapes and historic sites along the East Coast with his parents. Camping wasn’t an occasional vacation — it was simply what the family did. His fondest memories are rooted in those early years: fishing in quiet ponds, swimming in clear New England lakes, hiking wooded trails, and building campfires that glowed long into the evening air.

Camping in New England leaves a lasting imprint. It’s the scent of pine and woodsmoke at dawn, evenings under a sky full of stars, and the quiet lessons passed down around a campfire. Learning to cast a line, stack firewood, or simply sit still and listen to the forest shaped Mike’s lifelong connection to the outdoors.

That connection deepened when he and his wife Annemarie moved to the hills of Vermont in the mid-nineties to raise their three children — Logan, Zachary, and Elizabeth. Vermont offered room to roam and a close-knit community grounded in nature. Weekends were spent hiking, fishing, and exploring — continuing the traditions that had defined Mike’s own childhood.

Maple Grove Campground carries that legacy forward. It reflects the values Mike grew up with: family first, time outdoors, and the simple joy of gathering around a fire. March feels especially meaningful here. As maple season begins and winter slowly gives way to spring, the campground becomes a place of renewal — where guests can unplug, reconnect, and experience Vermont the way it was meant to be enjoyed.
